Register of individuals refraining from gambling

from January 1, 2020

Pursuant to Section 4¹ of the Law on Gambling and Lotteries, natural persons have the right to request in writing that they are prohibited from gambling in the Republic of Latvia, including interactive gambling, and from participating in interactive lotteries, as well as to be included in the Register of individuals refraining from gambling.

 

The purpose of the Register of individuals refraining from gambling is to protect the public interest and the right of natural persons to refrain from excessive gambling, including interactive gambling and participation in interactive lotteries. The prohibition applies to participation in all types of gambling and interactive lotteries referred to in the law.

How do you apply to be included in the register of individuals refraining from engaging in gambling and interactive lotteries?

 

The Lotteries and Gambling Supervisory Inspection are in charge of the Register of individuals refraining from engaging in gambling and interactive lotteries in Latvia.

 

Anyone who wants to deny themselves access to gambling, both in an interactive environment and at gambling venues, can register on a voluntary basis.

 

How do you register?

 

  • In person or in writing: at the Lotteries and Gambling Supervisory Inspection (Stabu iela 18, Riga, LV–1011, tel.: (+371) 67 504 955, e-mail: pasts@iaui.gov.lv)
  • Online: at https://registrs.iaui.gov.lv/ by using one of the electronic identification tools for personal identification (eSignature mobile, eID card, eSignature card, online banking)
  • By filling in a form at any gambling venue

 

When registering, you must provide your name, surname, personal identification number, and the time frame for the gambling ban! The minimum time frame for bans on gambling and lotteries is set officially and is 12 months.

 

The application for refraining from access to gambling and interactive lotteries is included in the Register of individuals refraining from gambling. Gambling operators are obliged to check each person in order to make sure that this person is not included in the Register.

 

Persons listed in the Register are denied access to licensed gambling and interactive lotteries both online and at gambling venues.
